Who We Are
James Webber

James Webber

James Webber has worked as a filmmaker for over eight years, making numerous music videos, promos, and commercials. He has also written and directed several award-winning shorts. His first major short, the highly acclaimed Driftwood, has won over 25 awards at international festivals, including a prestigious ‘Coup de Coeur’ at Cannes and was long-listed for a BAFTA for ‘Best Short Film’. The film was picked up for distribution by Shorts International and in the summer of 2014 it was broadcast on Channel 4’s The Shooting Gallery. James’ follow up to Driftwood was drama short Soror which hosted an impressive cast including double BAFTA winner Kate Dickie (Game of Thrones, Red Road). In the last two years he’s moved more towards horror with shorts The Prey and Hushy Bye, but drama is still were his heart lies. As a producer, James worked with director Axelle Carolyn on her short film The Halloween Kid which he produced alongside Neil Marshall (Dir. Game of Thrones). James’s next project will be his feature film directing debut, Solitude Country.


  Poppaea Bicknell

Poppaea Bicknell has worked closely alongside James Webber on his films for the past eight years, primarily as a producer and costume designer, but also as a photographer and graphic designer. She co-produced the multi-award-winning Driftwood, the acclaimed Soror, horror short The Prey and was a lead producer on Hushy Bye. With a BA (Hons) Degree from the London College of Fashion (UAL) in Costume Design for the Performing Arts, Poppaea is a highly skilled costume designer and has designed and made several special costumes for The Springhead Film Company’s films. With a background in art and design, she also designs the visual marketing for all of Springhead’s films including posters, graphics and websites. As a photographer, Poppaea shot the official film stills for Driftwood, Soror, The Prey, Hushy Bye, Tea For Two, Do You Know This Girl? and on Axelle Carolyn’s, The Halloween Kid. She has photographed actors such as Ruth Wilson and her photography has been published in magazines such as Tatler, Brides and Digital Filmmaker.

  Lorenzo Levrini

Lorenzo Levrini

Lorenzo Levrini is an award-winning London-based cinematographer. He recently shot action horror epic Redcon-1. He was shortlisted at the Reed Film Awards two years in a row for the shorts Gaffer and Achiever. He has worked on high-end commercials for clients such as Samsung, Barclays, CBS and the Be More Dog campaign for O2, travelled the world for TV shows and shot countless shorts and music videos. He has also shot digital, online and viral content for Lucozade, Pfizer, Ben Sherman, NHS, Virgin Media, Dove, Nintendo, RICS, McCoys and HSBC. Lorenzo’s work as part of The Springhead Film Company so far includes DP credits on Soror, The Prey, Hushy Bye, Tea For Two and zazU Comedy. On the side, he teaches cinematography on the filmmaking course at London Metropolitan University and Ravensbourne and runs London Film Lighting Workshops, under which he teaches film lighting in innovative ways.

  Helen Miles

Helen Miles
Sound Designer

Helen Miles is a Sound Designer, specialising in Film and TV with additional projects spanning a variety of formats including advertising and web-based media, theatre and game sound. Helen’s feature credits include: Ben Hecking’s Provenance, Harry Macqueen’s Hinterland, Phillip Todd’s The Gaelic King, plus British Thrillers The Cake Maker and Hard Tide, and fantasy action film Meza. She also has an extensive list of short film credits including Don’t Move and The Outer Darkness from the award-winning Bloody Cuts Horror series; Unto Death, Plastic Love and Terry & Brenda from Jamie Hooper; Connie from Cat Davies and James Moran; Tea For Two from Mark Brennan; as well as Driftwood, Soror, The Prey and Hushy Bye from Springhead’s own James Webber. Corporate clients have included: Spotify, Uber, Thinkfun, Kew Gardens and Young Women’s Trust. Helen has taught sound for film on behalf of BFI Film academy (Macau, China), LCC and UCA and she is also an associate of the Institute of Professional Sound and a member of BAFTA Crew 2015-2017.

Rebecca Van Cleave

Rebecca Van Cleave
Producer|Actress

Rebecca Van Cleave has been working as an actress in the British film industry for the past three years. Previously, she trained at The Shenandoah Valley Governor’s School in Virginia and performed in multiple plays and musicals before returning to London in 2012. Most recently she received international recognition for her work on HBO’s Game of Thrones. Director David Nutter called Rebecca “a tremendous actress… a godsend.” This year she also appeared in E! Network’s first scripted drama, The Royals, as well as multiple commercials and music videos. In late 2015, she will take the screen again, starring as Mel in award winning director James Webber’s horror short The Prey. A multitalented performer, her first EP as a singer/songwriter, The Bedroom Sessions will be released in July 2015. With a background in events management and marketing, as well as knowledge and industry experience gained in front of the camera, Rebecca is excited to move behind the camera, adding the role of producer to her CV.

  Olivia Chappell

Olivia Chappell
Producer|Actress

Olivia Chappell is an actress and producer who has worked in the independent film industry for over 8 years. After graduating from University of Birmingham and East 15 Acting School, she landed her first role as the lead in a feature film for which she won two Best Actress awards at international festivals. She has gone on to worked in all aspects of the industry – theatre, radio, film, musicals, commercials, music videos, and voiceover. After meeting James and Poppaea at the audition for his short film Dancer, she has, in one-way or another, been involved with every project of theirs ever since. Olivia first fully ventured behind the camera to co-produce the multi-award-winning Driftwood, involved primarily in casting and pre-production. Olivia also appeared in both Soror and The Prey, and has worked to connect the Springhead team with like-minded creatives throughout the industry. Having grown up in a creative family, Olivia also works as a musician, a writer, a singer, and as a trained drama teacher and acting coach producing and directing plays with young adults in London and California.
